Children under the age of 5 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on all Olympic Air flights. The parent or guardian must be over the age of 18, and must supervise and be responsible for the child throughout the duration of the flight. It is the guardian's responsibility to carry the child's necessary identification documents, as well as any other documents required at the destination (e.g. visa/passport). It is implied that the child and the escort will be travelling together on the same flight and the same class.

Child travelling alone (5 -12 years of age)

Minors between the ages of 5 to 12 can travel without an accompanying adult upon request from the Parent /guardian of the child for the Child Travelling Alone Service. The service provides for an Olympic Air or AEGEAN ground employee undertaking responsibility for the child from the parent or guardian and escorting him/her from the check-in counter to the entrance of the aircraft, where the child will then be under the responsibility of the cabin crew for the entire duration of the flight. Upon arrival at the destination the child is again received by a ground crew member, and escorted to the adult that has been pre-appointed by the parent or guardian for pick-up.

This service is available during the online booking process or by calling the AEGEAN call center.  Due to limited availability of special seating assigned per flight for children travelling alone we accept requests on a priority basis.  

Please be advised that you must declare detailed personal information for the adult handing over the child to Olympic Air or AEGEAN staff and also the adult picking up the child from the arrival airport. For a seamless and careless journey, the accompanying adults dropping off and picking up the child must present a valid identification card or passport.

Important notes:

• Rates apply per direction for Aegean Airlines/Olympic Air flights and for Aegean Airlines/Olympic Air with LH group (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Swiss).
• Only one child will be charged when two to four siblings are travelling together on Aegean Airlines/Olympic Air flights.
• Bookings made via the reservations department are subject to a €23 fee (per passenger).
• Changes of tickets for children travelling alone, are applicable only through our Call Center, there is a €23 service fee for ticket reissue (per passenger) for domestic and international flights, which applies to all categories of fares.

Everything you need to know when your child is travelling alone

Before the flight

The "Declaration of Parent or Guardian" form must be completed prior to handing over the unaccompanied minor into our care at the airport of departure. This form contains personal information about the unaccompanied child, as well as, the travel details and information of parents or guardians who are handing over and picking up the minor.

You can always save time at the airport by downloading the "Declaration of Parent or Guardian" form and filling it out in the comfort of your home. Please make sure that all of the information is correct and that you have 3 copies per child for each flight.  

If you are unable to prepare and print out the form at home simply arrange your arrival time at the airport of departure so as to allow time for filling out the "Declaration of Parent or Guardian" form there.

At the airport

Upon arrival at the departure airport you must provide 3 copies of the "Parent or Guardian Declaration" form at the airport check-in before the trip for signatures. When arranging your arrival time at the airport of departure,  please plan ahead and allow ample time for filling out the "Declaration of Parent or Guardian" form.  Copies must remain in the child's possession during the flight.

You will also need to have the following with you:

• A document proving the age and identity of the child travelling alone, such as a passport, identification card or other official documents (i.e birth certificate or health booklet).
• Your passport or identity card (with photo) to drop off the unaccompanied minor.
  
  

The Olympic Air or AEGEAN staff will check your documentation, confirm that all contact details are clearly displayed on the "Parent or Guardian Declaration" form and will place the necessary documents in a special folder that your child should have with him throughout the trip .

Once cleared for boarding, the Olympic Air or AEGEAN ground staff will accompany the child from check-in (Athens and Thessaloniki airports have special check-in counters exclusively for special services), through the security check and deliver him/her to the cabin crew of the airplane to be seated in a designated seat so as to remain under the supervision of the crew throughout the flight.

Please note that the adult dropping off the child must remain at the airport until the departure of the flight is confirmed.

What parents should know:

• If your child is travelling alone for the first time, we recommend that you help familiarize them with the procedure, showing them the airport and airplanes in advance.
• In case your child needs special assistance please let us know so that we can provide it.
• Be sure to give your child all the necessary identification documents and cash for an unlikely emergency.
• Pack a few snacks or toys into the carry on luggage so that travelling time can be more amusing.
• Make sure that the child understands that they can address any questions or requests for assistance to the flight attendants during the flight.
• Make sure that the carryon luggage is light and manageable by the child and also remind them to gather all their belongings before leaving the plane.

During the flight

If your child is travelling alone, you can of course select their preferred seat from the displayed seat map. In case you have not chosen a seat, we will make sure that the child is seated in a seat that will ensure constant supervision of the cabin crew.

To ensure a safe travel experience, currently we do not offer special meals for children and infants.

Upon Arrival

After landing, the Olympic Air or AEGEAN staff will accompany your child to the baggage belt if so required and then take them to the designated adult for pick up.  Please remember that the adult picking up the child must have identification and or passport documentation for authentication.

Connecting flights

For connecting flights, the Olympic Air or AEGEAN staff will constantly supervise the child at the intermediate airport and deliver them to the cabin crew of the next flight at the departure gate. During a long transfer, your child will be safely escorted to an available airport lounge. In case of night stops when there is no operating AEGEAN lounge, parenting arrangements are mandatory. 

In the unlikely event of a schedule change:

In the event of a change in the scheduled time of departure, delay, cancellation or any other unexpected incident, the contact persons listed on the Parent or Guardian Form will be contacted and we will ensure that the child travels on another flight if necessary.
