The island of Ikaria offers various tasty local products. Try “Kathoura”, the traditional goat’s milk cheese aged in brine. Excellent wild goat meat “raskon” is also widely available. Buy fine honey and do not leave the island without the island’s unique ceramic souvenirs.
The unique local custom of opening shops after sundown is a remnant of past centuries, when the locals were busy all day in the fields and commercial activity begun after their return.
