Pitarakia is the local dish “par excellence”, to be enjoyed with sweet “koufeto”.
The cuisine of Milos is typical of the Cyclades, incorporating many pungent and mild local cheeses in its many pies. Try “pitarakia” (fried rolls with hard cheese and onion), as well as “flaounes”: spinach syrupy pies and the handmade “skordolalana”. During Eastertime in Milos, try “lamprokouloures” and “kalisounia”: almond pastry with cream cheese. In the coastal villages of the island you will find many fish restaurants and taverns with local dishes.
The island’s relaxed tempo is apparent in its nightlife, with bars –ideal for romantic sunsets- congregating around the harbour.
