Every summer, the Milos Festival hosts painting exhibitions, concerts, theatrical plays, dance performances, a book fair and other cultural activities. If you visit Milos during Easter, be sure to attend the lively local feast at the village of Triovasaloi, including unique local customs. Many religious festivals are held throughout the island all year long. Given the opportunity, be sure to attend the ones of Agia Paraskevi on the 26th of July and Panagia Portiani in Zefiria, on the 15th of August.

Venus of Milo was unearthed in 1820 by a local farmer near Tripiti. The coveted sculpture lost its famed left arm during a scuffle between Ottoman and French sailors fighting over its possession.
