More than 60 beaches –all of them wonderful- are concentrated in an area of 48 sq. km, ringing this miniature island of the Sporades. Most of them can be reached by car but there also some only accessible by boat, like the famous Lalaria.
Beaches with amenities: Driving from the town of Skiathos to the famous and much photographed beach of Koukounaries -where the pine forest touches the water- you will find at least eight beautiful beaches on the way, some sporting amenities like Tzaneria, Aghia Paraskevi and Vromolimnos. To the west of the nudist beach of Banana, Agia Eleni enjoys the island’s best sunsets.
The north side of the island offers the visitor a string of secluded beaches such as Castro, Xanemos, Mandraki, Limani tou Xerxi (the exact spot where Xerxes is believed to have launched his campaign against the Greeks), Elia, Kehria, Limenaria, Megalos Gialos, Mikros and Megalos Aselinos. These marvelous locations have escaped tourist tourism promotion, retaining their unspoilt natural beauty.

Lalaria: One of the most beautiful beaches of Greece, often featured in the National Tourism Office’s promotional posters, Lalaria astounds with its steep, off-white rocks falling vertiginously to the sea. The rare geological Hollow Stone phenomenon, has left a huge rectangular rock to forms a natural bridge over the water and the beach. Lalaria’s bright white pebbles create –in the meantime- a wild setting, in no way resembling Skiathos’ gentle green landscape. Accessible exclusively by boat, weather permiting.
