Flights to the US

If you are travelling to the United States of America, you must ensure prior to your departure that you comply with the enforced regulations of the country of destination. For further and more accurate information, we advise you to refer to the relevant consulates and embassies. 

AEGEAN and Olympic Air will not be authorized to board passengers who have not carried out the mandatory formalities.

VISA WAIVER PROGRAM

This program permits citizens of specific countries to enter the USA without a visa for a maximum of 90 days under specific prerequisites, such as an approved ESTA authorization, a return/onward ticket to exit the US, etc. Click on this link to see which countries are eligible: www.dhs.gov

Passport requirements

Passport must be an “e-passport“ (also known as “biometric”). This contains a chip with your biographical, biometric data and a digital passport photograph.

Visa

You will need a visa if your passport does not meet these requirements or you are not a citizen of a country participating in the Visa Waiver Program.

ELECTRONIC SYSTEM FOR TRAVEL AUTHORISATION (ESTA)

Anyone wishing to enter the USA on the Visa Waiver Programme must apply for Electronic Travel Authorisation. Please apply as early as possible. We suggest at least 72 hours prior to your departure. AEGEAN and Olympic Air have the right to refuse transportation for passengers without any proof of valid ESTA travel permission at the time of check-in and/or boarding time. At present, the green entry form (I-94W) must still be completed on board.

APPLY FOR YOUR ESTA TRAVEL AUTHORISATION

Important Notice: As of 8 September 2010, a 14 USD fee will be charged (by payment card) for each ESTA authorisation request.

ESTA Validity

Your ESTA authorisation is valid for up to two years provided it is not withdrawn and your passport does not expire. The ESTA travel authorisation is valid for multiple entries into the United States. You can easily update the destination address, travel route or your future travel plans on the ESTA website.

Important Notice: ESTA request is processed directly on line. You must ensure that the passport number along with the country of issuance details have been correctly entered. Data entered are not automatically checked at the time of the request. In the event of mistake, for instance 10 digits entered instead of 9 for a European passport, you will have no other option than put in another request.

ADVANCED PASSENGER INFORMATION SYSTEM (APIS)

APIS is a requirement under US immigration law. Airlines are obliged to transmit their passenger data to the US Department of Homeland Security prior to departing for the USA. To avoid inconvenience when you arrive in the USA, it is important to make sure that you complete the APIS form correctly.

APIS collects data including surnames, first names, passport numbers, temporary address* where the passenger will be staying, etc.

*The temporary address must include the house number, street, city/town, abbreviation used for the state, and the zip code.

Currently, you can provide APIS data at our check in points at the airport.

Since November the 4th, 2010, passengers travelling to USA are able to complete the APIS required data through the e-ticket service during booking.
